Shortly after beginning his new position as Guitar Teacher at Prairie College in 2002, he was gifted with an old rocking chair. The conception of that idea is here, in Ed’s words:

“I enjoy doing recitations in songs, and about 20 years ago, this old rocking chair was given to me. It was probably over 100 years old, and was so covered with many layers of paint, it was hard to see anything but an old rocker, that had been broken and repaired a number of times.
As I began to strip the old finishes off the rocker, it reminded me of my mom. She was getting elderly and I found a parallel in her life, in that rocker. The poetry just seemed to pour out of that old chair”.

Lyrics

Beautiful Again

Making old things Beautiful, Again
Take an old, old story
Like a long lost friend
Sharing simple memories with a worn out hand
Celebrating the fabric of our land
Making Old Things Beautiful Again
