From the recording Bull Train
During the Alberta Centennial year, a local colleague from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, Cathy Covert, was commissioned to develop a Musical celebrating the amazing history of turn-of-century Alberta. I was enlisted in two main rolls: Music Director and Composer. Bull Train was built on documents that Cathy found, and images in my mind that those documents created. These "Bull Trains" were coming up North, many from the United States, where Homesteaders and Pioneers were looking for more room, better grasslands and basically, a new life. A real take-away gift for me through this two weeks running Musical "When We Came West", was realizing that in the creation of this Musical, we were like modern day pioneers of a similar "ilk" as those, from days gone by. It all was great fun, and there were many more songs, as well as many CDs manufactured, of most of the songs in the Musical.
